- Advises the President and Provost on campus diversity-related
matters
- Assists the President and Provost in holding institutional units
accountable for progress in achieving diversity goals and promoting a supportive
climate for diversity
- Makes recommendations to the President and Provost regarding
resource allocations, merit increases, and reappointments in the context of diversity
efforts
- Chairs the Diversity Operations Committee (DOC) to consider
processes for the collection of equity and climate data to accomplish goals of the
University Diversity Plan
- Works with the Council on Climate and Diversity (CCD) to plan
appropriate assessment and evaluation of campus units to accomplish goals of the
University Diversity Plan
- Facilitates the assessment and monitoring of the efforts and
progress in diversifying the faculty, staff, and student bodies with emphasis on
recruitment, retention and progression
- Facilitates the planning and implementation of programs to ensure
diversity and equity among students, faculty, and staff by working with the Vice
Presidents, Deans, Department Heads, and the leadership of the faculty, student,
and staff governing bodies
- Serves as the chief spokesperson for the University on matters
related to diversity and equity
- Facilitates the compilation of accountability, climate, and
equity data reports and conducts research on diversity-related initiatives
- Coordinates assembly of diversity statistics on faculty, students,
and staff
- Assists the Vice President in the review, execution, and update
of the University Diversity Plan
- Assists with the development of climate assessment instruments
for faculty, staff, and students
- Coordinates office-sponsored faculty, staff, and student development
workshops
- First point of contact for funding support inquiries
- Office contact for staff diversity issues
- Office point of contact for acts of hate, bias, or incivility
