Dr. Christine A. Stanley
Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity
Vice President's Message:
" Texas A&M University is at a pivotal point moment in time. In
particular, land-grant colleges and universities have a critical and
ethical responsibility to ensure that they continue to fulfill the needs
of the state and society. I fully embrace the concept that "diversity
is an indispensable component of academic excellence," as expressed in
our university's Commitment to Diversity. We cannot begin to achieve
excellence if we do not value diversity in all its human dimensions-age,
gender, gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, sexual
orientation, nationality, culture, physical and mental ability,
socioeconomic status, religion, and the like. We currently live in a
society and world that is increasingly diverse and global. The college
student population and environment are microcosms of our society.
Research shows that diversity does influence student learning in, as
well as, beyond the classroom. Therefore, it is imperative to provide
students, faculty, and staff with the skills necessary to learn, teach,
and work effectively in any environment. No institution can achieve
excellence without diversity. "
