Becky Petitt was named Assistant Vice President for Diversity in April 2005. Becky has provided vision and leadership for Texas A&M University in the area of diversity since she joined the staff in 1994 as coordinator of diversity education in the Department of Residence Life. In 1998, she assumed the position of coordinator of diversity education in the Department of Multicultural Services and was named assistant director in 2000. In 2002, she began working with the Office of the Vice President for Research as associate director of the Institute for Scientific Computation and director of organizational development and diversity.

Petitt is a nationally recognized consultant, specializing in diversity in higher education, leadership and organizational development.

A native of Texas, she is a 1990 graduate of Sam Houston State University, where she earned a B.S. degree, and a 1997 graduate of Texas A&M University with a master of education degree. Petitt is scheduled to complete her doctorate in educational administration this year.
